Steel and Straw - (No big bad wolves here!)
We have a Green Steel framed home with a strawbale exterior wall system that is a very Green solution to your project! We can provide: Design, Engineering, Materials and Construction as a 1-stop-shop solution, or Ala Carte.
The home below was that first design more than 10 years ago that incorporated both of these ideas: Green Steel as the Structural Framing while not having no visible cues as to the use of parts of containers, and rice strawbales as the exterior wall. Now, through a strategic partnership with SG Blocks, this design can be realized. The advantages: Lower cost, green and local solution, NO EVIDENCE of a container in sight! It can also be a modular solution, if that is a better solution.

Why Steel & Straw? Using Containers as Structure only!
Do you like the idea of a container being reused into the building materials for your new home, but don't want a home that LOOKS like a shipping container? -That's our feeling exactly!
What is we could create a home that re-uses containers in the structure (framing) only, and aesthetically leaves it alone?!!! We could use Rice Strawbales which are readily available here in Northern California as the exterior wall envelope for a high R-Value, and ease of use for a high amount of "sweat equity" for those who want to do so.
What kind of homes are possible? Pretty much anything you can think of, because these are systems used to build the house, not dictate the design style or features. Certain types will be easier to do than others, but it is flexible. For inspiration, please look at our design area on this site!

Stak Blocks - Rice Straw without the bales and mess!
These are NOT strawbales! More like Lego(R) blocks made from rice straw. They can be used in most residential and other types of buildings as the construction materials for the exterior wall system.
